KERU

As part of a collaborative student team, we participated in the Dentsu Comes to Town competition with our project “Keru the Gentle Frog.” My contributions were central to the project, as I was actively involved in the conceptualization, created the design of Keru, animated Keru, and edited the final video.

Streets remain some of the most dangerous places for the most vulnerable individuals. Our challenge was to bring respect, peace, and harmony to the streets of our city. Breathing is the most natural approach to reduce stress and achieve calm, making it the perfect guide to tranquility and mindfulness. We present Keru, derived from “kaeru,” meaning “frog” in Japanese. Keru symbolizes adaptability and transformation into a figure that embodies function and respect for others. Its connection to nature makes Keru a reassuring and calming presence.

We aimed to strike the perfect balance between Keru’s serene design and its role as a gentle guide, blending natural elements with urban needs. Keru’s soothing appearance and the concept of mindful breathing were harmonized to create a fresh, peaceful aesthetic that promotes respect and harmony on city streets.
